Sources in health department informed Early Times that there is no big deal, it was an exercise of damage control by the state medical supply corporation (SMSC) under the patronage of state government. "Though the policy has been implemented from today, there is still shortage of basis medicine in Gandhi Nagar Hospital. However, under the policy some of the medicines have been provided by the SMSC, but the supply is not sufficient to meet our daily requirements", sources in health department said, adding that no doubt the policy would improve health care at primary and secondary level, but he beginning is not more than a poor show, staged to earn publicity only. "Gandhi Nagar Hospital is one of the crowded, and government hospital where huge quantity of medicine is required. Since the state government today introduced the policy, it will not be help full until sufficient quantity of medicine is provided by the corporation", they added. They further said the policy was implemented without knowing ground reality by the corporation. "To purchase of some of medicines required at primary and secondary cares hospitals, the corporation has invited the tenders. Some of the medicines available with corporation has not been supplied due to known reasons", the officer said. Sources further said that district hospital Samba is facing same problem, and it is difficult to do justice with poor patients with insufficient supply available in the hospital. "The supply made by the corporation is very less than the requirement, the hospital administration will be unable to provide the medicine to each patient", he added. He further said, according to feed-back, higher officials in directorate received from CMOs and BMOs, there immediately need to provide sufficient medicines at DHs, PHCs and Sub Centres.
