Geelani ‘abused’ in Hurriyat meet | | | Early Times Report srinagar, June 2: A group of separatists of moderate Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday abused senior separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in a meeting conveyed by chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at party headquarters Raj Bagh. Sources privy to development informed Early Times that leaders including two top most are disturbed with the unity of Hurriyat groups led by Mirwaiz, Geelani and Yasin Malik. "During the meeting a verbal brawl broke out between the members. Angry members asked Mirvaiz to snap ties with Geelani and move on according to forum rules and constitutions," they said. Sources said that members strongly objected to strike politics and conveyed the chairman to stop henceforth supporting strike calls of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. "They used vulgar, offensive and insulting words against the Geelani and said that bloodshed can't be solution to problems," a leader, who attended the meeting, said. He went on to claim that a member called Geelani "murderer of Kashmiris." "We claim forces killed people, but the fact is that Jammat-e-Islami killed half of the number," he added. Members threatened to make public the real intention of forging alliance with Geelani and Malik. However, sources said that Mirwaiz scolded the members in a high tune and asked them to carry out activities. "I will not change my stand. On several occasions I have been asked to expel you (members) but I am still tolerating you," Mirwaiz told the participants, adding that unity at this time to fight the anti-Kashmir policies of RSS was need of the hour. "You don't know the gravity of RSS agenda. They will finish the Hurriyat as well," sources claimed Mirwaiz having told the members. Early Times has already reported the many senior members of moderate Hurriyat are against the strike politics and are time and again opposing Syed Ali Geelani for the same. |
