SI, other cop bring disgrace to khakhi, 'rob' jeweller of Rs 4 lakh | SI, serving in GRP, is absconding in police record | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, June 2: A Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable have brought disgrace to khakhi as taking advantage of uniform, they allegedly snatched Rs 4 lakh from a jeweller of Jain Bazar. The accused have been identified as SI Ajay Singh Bandral, Shokat Ali alias Khan, Khalid alias Kalu, Nizakat alias Mohammad Yousuf and constable Mohammad Zafar. While the accused SI is presently posted with Government Railways Police (GRP), Jammu, cop Mohammad Zafar is under suspension after he was allegedly caught with heroin in Punjab. All the accused were later booked under sections 420 and 120-B RPC by the Chowk Chabutra Police . Amazingly, while all other accused were arrested, the SI was shown as absconder in police report to court. The incident took place on May 10, 2016 when Mohammad Yousuf and M N Khan along with Rajesh Sharma, an acquaintance of jeweller Hemu Khosla, son of Satish Kumar of Janipur, came to the latter's shop at Jain Bazar and informed him that they had gold to sell. The deal was struck at Rs 4 lakh. The next day, they called up the jeweller and asked him to come to Jagti in Nagrota area with cash to buy the gold. Police sources said after the jeweller reached the place where the accused were already waiting for him, Ajay Singh and Mohammad Zafar in police uniform reached the spot in a white Scorpio and snatched the money from the jeweller. After thrashing him, all the accused fled the spot. Sources said the SI was earlier suspended and booked for allegedly cheating the brother of a Bollywood actor of crores of rupees while he was posted as SHO of Vijaypur police station. He had even used his official stamp to finalise a land deal in Seora area here. He had also allegedly used the seal of SHO to win the confidence of the brother of bollywood actor. As far as constable Zafar is concerned, he was suspended after Punjab police had arrested him with the consignment of heroin. He was serving in traffic wing of the police when he was arrested. Police had swung into action after the jeweller had brought the matter to the notice of senior police officers. Meanwhile, DGP K Rajindera has assured action, even the termination of the service of the accused cops, when he was apprised of the incident. |
