Slow recruitment by NRHM affects ISM functioning | Year after advertisement, 12 MO posts still vacant | | Bijay Charak Early Times Report jammu, June 2: Shortage of ISM doctors notwithstanding, the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has failed to fill 12 contractual Medical Officers (MO') posts which were advertised a year back. Reliable sources of ISM department concerned informed Early Times that Union government has launched National Health Mission (NHM) a decade back for providing accessible, affordable and quality health care to rural population of country. Government of India (GoI) in each year has released crores rupees under various schemes to run the state health institutions as per norms of Indian Public Health Standard (IPHS) but in Jammu and Kashmir it was seen antagonistic the state mission director previous year had invited application for hiring the services of Medical Officers (AYUSH) on contractual basis under National Health Mission, J&K against the 12 vacant posts in various health institutions in the state under scheme Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) but lapse of year the recruitment process of those posts hang in balance. "The Ayush units which was established by government in various Allopathic Primary Health Centres (PHC) in state facing acute dearth of staff due to which most of these units are running on internal arrangement", sources said, adding that no serious effort was taken by the Directorate General, Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH, to strengthen the staff in ISM health institution as well as the unit established in Allopathic Health Institutions but in JK the officials of NHM not interested to benefited the people of state under various schemes, though it was directly funded by Union Government. They further said that the tendency of people towards Ayurvedic, Unani treatment has increased over the past few years in the winter capital as well as summer capital but the prevailing scenario due to insufficient staff has been a cause of concern for the visiting patients. Mission Director, Dr Mohan Singh didn't respond to phone calls. |
