Early Times Report

Jammu, June, 2: Government is planning to construct flats for rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits on their own land which was declared Abadi Deh in absence of Kashmiri Pandits who are the legal owner of the said land.
Pertinent to mention here that Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed announced to develop Haal village as Heritage Village, but no action was taken after his demise. "We appeal to the Chief Minister to take appropriate steps to keep the words of Late Mufti Sayeed and fulfill his dream" said aresident.
A representation to stop the execution of the proposed plan for construction of flats on the property of displaced Kashmiri pandits is already submitted to Chief Minister and also to Dr. Haseeb Drabu who represents the assembly constituency Rajpora also to protect the ownership right of KPs.
104 Kanal land which includes agricultural and residential property at Village Haal of Tehsil Rajpura of district Pulwama in Kashmir was proposed for construction of flats for rehabilitation of KP migrants). "We condemn the policies of government to convert our own land to ABADI DEH, when the revenue records of 1990 reflects it was the private land of Kashmiri pandits who were forced to migrate in early 90s and their land was converted into Abadi Deh without their consent and presence", Said villagers of Haal.
The beautiful village, which stands on the famous Mughal Road, was once a peaceful village of nearly seventy houses, after the migration the beautiful houses turned to ruins but still we hope to return to our birth places and reconstruct our houses and live our life peacefully, said one of the habitants of the village Haal.
"There is enough state land available in the Rajpura area and it can be safely utilized for construction of flats without damaging the public prosperities of KPs at village Haal and as such it will be most unjust to take our proprietary land for the said proposal" they averred.
