Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 2: Deputy Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmed Gurazi today directed government to charge less rent from journalists who had come from Jammu or from other areas and were presently camping at Circuit House, Srinagar. While presiding over the House proceedings, Gurezi said that journalists had come to Srinagar for assembly coverage and they represented us by covering assembly proceedings in media.The directions were passed by him after journalists from Jammu and other areas called on him and urged him to intervene in the matter. The journalists demanded free lodging and boarding facilities through estate department. All the MLAs including some ministers present in the assembly hailed his directions by thumping the desks. It is pertinent to mention here that as compared to the legislators who are being charged Rs 260 for a room per day, journalists are being charged Rs 650 and Rs 390 per room.. |
