Two months on, SPOs yet to receive salary | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 2: Despite order issued by the Home Department with regard to enhancement of monthly wages from existing Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6000 in favour of the Special Police Officers (SPOs), the SPOs posted in state of Jammu and Kashmir are yet to receive enhanced salaries in their accounts, thus questioning the BJP-PDP government intension and delay in implementation of the order on ground. As per the details available with "Early Times", the government Jammu and Kashmir issued the order of enhancement of salaries of the SPOs vide order No. 215-Home of 2016 dated 11-04-2016 in which the government order the enhancement of the honorarium of SPOs working in the police department w.e.f 1-01-2016. As per the said Home Department order, SPOs having experience less than one year will get Rs. 5000/month, SPO's who had completed one year of service will get Rs. 5500/month and after completion of three year services, each SPO has been entitled for Rs. 6000/month salary, but even after two months since the sad order was issued by the government, SPOs are yet to receive the enhanced salaries. While talking to "Early Times", many SPOs confirmed that they did not receive enhanced salaries into their accounts and demanded immediate release of enhanced salaries into their respective accounts, beside also demanded framing of policy in favour of SPOs for their regularization on the pattern of ReT's ReZ,s and daily wagers. Till date government has regularized the services of 3331 SPOs as constables or flowers under 15% reserve quota in police recruitment on the bases of their excellence in counter insurgency operations, excellence in sports and possession of ITI Diploma. Meanwhile in reply to A.Q No. 246 of NC MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone, the government stated that since March, 2015 till date, 672 youths have been engaged as SPOs in police department on operational ground, but refuse to divulge the names of the engaged persons due to security reasons. |
