Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 2: The pathetic condition of the education system in state of Jammu and Kashmir could be gauged from the details provided by the State Government on Wednesday which disclosed that 7611 posts of Assistant Professors and Gazetted Officers are lying laying vacant in Higher Education Department while 3684 posts of 10+2 lecturers are also lying vacant in the state. As per the details of a written reply to A.Q No. 581 raised by MLA Chowdhary Mohammad Akram, the Minister for Education through Under Secretary to Government Higher Education Department said that Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division has 1437 Gazetted vacancies while 877 posts of similar nature are lying vacant in Jammu adding that department has referred around 1651 posts of Assistant Professor posts to Public Service Commission (PSC) for filling up. The government informed that out of 1651 posts of Assistant Professors, 8 posts each in Kashmiri and Persian, 1 in Electronics, 12 in Islamic Studies and 9 posts in Dogri have been filled, so far while the selection list in terms of remaining 1613 posts of Assistant Professors is still awaited. Similarly, 3684 posts of lecturers in 10+2 lecturer category are lying vacant. As per the reply, there are 2625 posts of 10+ 2 lecturers vacant out of already sanctioned posts in state which include 311 posts in Anantnag District followed by 181 in Baramulla, 103 each in Budgam and Bandipora, 314 in Kupwara, 132 in Kulgam, 110 in Pulwama, 57 in Ganderbal, 41 in Shopian 28 in Srinagar District while in Jammu division, the vacancies include 287 in Doda; 178 in Rajouri, 148 in Reasi, 137 in Udhampur, 111 in Kathua, 98 in Kishtwar, 86 in Ramban, 81 in Poonch, 50 in Kargil, 34 in Jammu, 21 posts in Leh and 14 in Samba district respectively. In addition to 2625 posts of 10+2 lecturers, the government stated that the Department of Education has identified 1059 posts of 10+2 lecturers in various disciplines under 50% direct recruitment quota and these posts have been referred to Public Service Commission or selection of suitable candidates under Fast Track bases for which as per government reply, PSC has also invited applications under notification No. 09-PSC(Dr-P) of 2016 Dated 19-03-2016. |
