Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 17: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today urged people not to peddle fake news and cooperate with the Government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic by listening to Government advisories and staying indoors. He said those into peddling fake news are compounding government’s problems and also inviting troubles for themselves as well. Raman Suri said that some of the ones seeking restoration of 4G services in J&K seem to be excessively desperate and are even indulging in fabricating fake orders by forging the signatures of officials. He said that restoration of 4G services is purely a domain of security agencies, who can’t put lives of thousands at stake, by giving ultras a platform to weave their network. He urged people to use Government facilities at NIC and DC offices but not peddle fake news. Raman Suri said there are many more such texts, videos, voice messages, podcasts, still pictures that have no relevance or reference to Coronavirus but people keep forwarding them by moulding the same as per their conveniences. He urged people not to believe in rumours and follow the authentic sources of information including radio, TV and newspapers besides government spokespersons. The fake news, Raman Suri added, is not only damaging but it also creates unrest amongst masses. In these testing times when governments around the globe are fighting this pandemic, soldiers are fighting militants, philanthropists are donating, NGOs are feeding the poor and economy is on lowest point, we need to be supportive in all respects and not compound issues.
