UN says it has no mandate on Kashmir | Setback to Pakistan | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 3: Sending shock waves down the spine of the separatists in Kashmir, the United Nations, has finally declared that it has no mandate over Kashmir and that the situation and incidents in Kashmir are India's internal matter.
Such a statement from the United Nations has come at the time when the separatists have started intensifying their pitch over the rhetoric of 'implementing the UN resolutions in Kashmir' or what they term publically the 'plebiscite'.
The clarification was issued by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's spokesman Stephane Dujarric on Tuesday, a day after the UN chief's deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq told reporters that the the UN will continue to monitor the situation in Kashmir, including through "our monitoring group" UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).

ANANTNAG, Aug 3: Three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants carrying assault rifles on Wednesday appeared in a rally organized by newly constituted separatist outfit 'Ithadeh-e-Milat' in Arwani village of Bijbehara-Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's hometown.
Militant made dramatic appearance amid anti-India slogans and addressed the gathering, according to eyewitness.
They said that one of the militant, while addressed the gathering threatened Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of revenge.

SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Around 150 persons sustained injuries during day clashes between protesters and security forces personnel at various places in Kashmir. At the same time the death toll in Kashmir violence reached 55 after the body of ATM guard was recovered.
Reports said that an auto driver spotted a body near the shrine of Syed Mansoor Sahib near the Government Medical College here on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Riyaz Ahmad Shah, an ATM guard, resident of Bhagiyas-Chattabal.
