Mirwaiz, others need to be booked under law of land | Regime that doesn't act | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: For speaking against the High Court order, banning the cow slaughter and the beef sale in J&K, separatist Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has necessarily to be booked under the law of the land. He was in his true colours when he on Friday said "any such court order or administrative orders being implemented in the valley would be met with fierce resistance".
However, what he said was not surprising. He only said he believed in and had been preaching every Friday at Jamia Masjid. It is disturbing that the present PDP-BJP dispensation, like the earlier Kashmir-controlled regimes, has been allowing Mirwaiz and his ilk to spit venom. He and others like him, including Geelani, must be brought to justice so that the scourge of communalism and separatism was neutralized, but we have in the state a dispensation which has no guts to act against them.
That's the reason the fanatics and separatists in the valley have got emboldened to the extent that they are openly challenging the High Court order. What Mirwaiz said was a clear case of sedition and contempt of cou...

Not good for Speaker to "watch" fashion shows, say Jammuites | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: Even as the state is faced with a tense situation over beef ban row, Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta on Saturday found some time to attend a Modelling Contest and relax himself. He and BJP activist Yudhvir Sethi were found enjoying the moments while watching the fashion show.
Notwithstanding his intentions, which most probably could have been to become part of the efforts of a private company to promote the budding models of Jammu, people feel that since t...
| | 'RSS leader Arun Kumar felt embarrassed during his Jammu visit' | Startling revelation | |
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: None in Jammu had ever expected that RSS leader Arun Kumar's intervention in the affairs of Jammu & Kashmir would evoke a very sharp reaction from those in Jammu who were considered close to RSS and BJP, but it happened during the meetings he held with some important sections of civil society, including 10-odd members of media fraternity. He is former Pranatiya Prachark and takes keen interest in the J&K affairs. According to sources close to him, he considers himself as an expert in Kashmir affairs, issues diktats to local BJP leadership from time to time, influences party decisions as far as appointment of persons to various positions in the govern...
| | Ram Madhav's act of ignoring public opinion likely to damage BJP | Says Nirmal Singh doing well, relations with PDP cordial | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party high command have, it seems, made up their mind to destroy BJP in Jammu & Kashmir. They know it that the people of Jammu region have turned against BJP and the coalition government. They also know that the entire Kashmiri leadership, barring that of the PDP for obvious reasons, Kashmiri opinion-makers and commentators, and even civil society groups have unleashed a relentless hate campaign against them and created a volcanic situation in the valley. Besides, they know that the BJP has also become quite unpopular in Ladakh. Still, they are not ready to review the prevailing situation in the state as well as the ...
| | BJP-PDP likely to usher into valley winters with 2014 deluge hallucinations | Rs 55,000 crore central package still eludes J&K aspirations | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: Since the assertion given by the centre to provide a holistic package for Jammu and Kashmir after the state witnessed 2014 deluge, the nonchalance from the government on this account has left the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed a hapless man who is learnt to have shot a letter to center with a reminder to do the needful.
Jammu and Kashmir was assured of getting a whopping Rs 55,000 crores for restructuring of the state, particularly the valley after the state witnessed a drastic flood in September 2014 that had tear into the social and economic fabric of the state.
The formation of the BJP-PDP alliance in the state had come up with a strong asser...
| | This Eid Kashmir finds traitor in Geelani | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 27: Finally Kashmir seems to have found a traitor in separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who first asked them to fight beef ban calling for instant hartal but within a fortnight ended up making "government-friendly" announcement only to show that "my word is final in Kashmir."
Even as on September 23, Geelani asked the people not to "hurt sentiments of any community" while going for sacrifice of animals on Eid-Ul -Azha, his statement was more of apparent wickedness to show his personal power than any effort for communal harmony.
With Eid having passed off peacefully, except for some stray incidents of violence on day one, Geelani is trying to c...
| | 59 JEs fail to submit Rs 9.85 Cr accounts; bosses attempt cover up | Majority of them either transferred or have retired | | Arun Singh
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 27: The lackadaisical attitude of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department can be gauged from the fact that fifty nine Junior Engineers of its six divisions in the state have not rendered the accounts of the material issued from their stores, in last five years, for construction on various projects valuing Rs 9.85 crore which is still unadjusted. Moreover, more than half of the erring officials who were responsible for not giving account of the material have either attained superannuation or have been transferred.
Sources told Early Times that as per the guidelines under Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme, the material issued for...

| | When BJP ignored discussion on Jazia before Union Home Minister | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 27: The Bharatiya Janta Party would not formally seek revocation of service tax on Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, as the party didn't formally discuss the matter with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir last week.
Highly placed sources said the state unit of BJP decided not to seek revocation of tax as the issue could affect the prospects of PDP-led alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the main sign of this surrender was that the issue was never formally discussed with the Union Home Minister during his 3-day visit of the state. The tax was imposed by Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu of PDP who since day...

| | Nepotism ails SMHS hospital, Influential preferred over commoner | | | Majid Nabi
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 27: Nepotism and corruption is rampant in valley's largest tertiary care SMHS hospital, as patients with chronic ailments, though without any favor, are thrown into the long waiting lists while influential are treated first hand.
SMHS, the government-owned General Hospital supposed to be committed to provide patient care to the needy, has, however, seemingly failed to do so as patients allege 'deliberate delays' on part of the medicos when it comes treating a commoner, while those exerting influence are given precedence.
'Early Times' from its sources came to know that the patients with serious ailments like "chronic cholecystitis" which c...
