Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 15: Lambasting BJP for its craven surrender on Rs. 1600 crore AIIMS project to Kashmir hundreds of Panthers Party activists today led by Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal along with several other leaders today stages protest outside press club for reiterating the demand for the restoration of the premier health edifice to Jammu region.
Addressing media persons, Harsh Dev said that the current budget session shall be remembered for total neglect and deprivation of Jammu region by the BJP and castigated the Saffron Party for its pusillanimous surrender on the issue of AIIMS in particular which was actually announced for Jammu region. Maintaining that AIIMS, an All India level premier institution for Health and Medical Education which not only caters to the Health services but also provides the facilities for advanced research was a long cherished dream of Jammu which was promised by the successive governments, Harsh Dev maintained that it was only in Union Budget session of 2015 that the said most coveted project was announced for Jammu which however was clandestinely conceded to Kashmir by the Saffron Party for the crumbs of power and lollypops of ministerial berths for its leaders in the PDP led government.
"Jammu region with its highly fragile health care system desperately needed a premier Health Institution as the people of the region were often referred to places like Delhi, Chandigarh and Amritsar for specialized treatment and its establishment would have catered to the medical needs of millions of pilgrims visiting here to pay their obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and other shrines", he added.
He said that the day is not far when the betrayed people with seething anger and outrage would blow the BJP to smithereens.
Meanwhile , Mankotia lambasted the BJP for failure to introduce the Bill for Delimitation of Assembly constituencies as promised by it in its vision Documents and further maintained that BJP which had made grandiloquent promises in Assembly elections for removal of regional disparities by holding fresh delimitations failed to utter even a single word in the Assembly regarding delimitation.
Mankotia further deplored the BJP for its failure to rake up the issue of continuous discrimination against Jammu region and for equitable allocation of funds in various sectors including Health, Power, Tourism, R&B, Education etc besides equality in employment opportunities.
Yashpal Kundal while condemning the Saffron Party for playing the politics of betrayal said that the Saffron Party already having made an ideological retreat on several issues, its profane act of treason with Jammu region has assumed monstrous proportions with its shameless surrender on AIIMS issue. He regretted that in its desperation to become a junior partner and to play a second fiddle in PDP led government, the BJP has not only sacrificed its age old ideology and solemn pledges but indulged in the most deceptive and obnoxious deal by bartering away the interests and aspirations of Jammu region.
Later, Harsh Dev Singh while announcing that JKNPP already has launched a movement for restoration of AIIMS to Jammu and large numbers of protests and demonstrations were being organized in various District and Tehsil headquarters on daily basis for retrieving the Rs.1600 crore Premier Health Institute made a fervent appeal to the people, youth, intellectuals and various other political and social organizations to join the crusade so that Jammu region is not robbed of this highly prestigious project and the pristine glory of the Dogras is retained at all costs.
