Sports Council's in limelight for its lethargy yet again | Website updation forgotten, officials ignore journos | | Shiv Dev Thakur
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 15: Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council is once again in limelight for wrong reasons. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdulla's promised e-Governance plan is yet to take off in several departments of the state whereas in some cases it has been stalled deliberately by the bureaucrats. Pertinently the website of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council still shows Omar Abdullah as the president and Raman Bhalla as vice-president of the Council. The fact, however is that the fact is- Ex- Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is not holding the position as only the sitting CM can hold the post of President in council and same is with the post of Vice- President. The problem with the updation of the website has left several Right to Information (RTI) activists and other concerned in dilemma about whom to contact about their grievances as all names and contact details of the members of the council as well as different divisions of the department is same as it was in the previous year. As per information with Early Times, CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has taken oath as new CM around 2 months ago and till now, the department has not updated him as the new President. How pathetic? Pertinently funds in Crores are being diverted every year from ADB, World Bank, Central Government as well as State Government for the smooth functioning of these important departments but the officials at the helm of affairs have gone lethargic to utilize the same amount effectively and are sluggish in the updation. Several attempts to contact Sidhharth Sharma, Joint Secretary Sports Council, went in vain as he disconnected the call even after being called thrice by ET Journo. Same was the response when Sports Secretary, Dilip Thusoo was called by the same Journo. |
