Blast injures Youth in Pattan

BARAMULLA, Apr 15: A sixteen- year- old youth was injured critically in mysterious circumstances when some explosive went off in his hand here in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Wednesday morning.
Fear and panic gripped the area following the blast which was heard far and wide. However the explosion has not caused any damage in its vicinity. Sources told Early Times that, "A sixteen year old boy Parvaiz Ahmad Khan was extracting something from the garbage when an explosive substance went off suddenly on Wednesday morning. As usual the boy had came out of his house in the morning hours of Wednesday for playing cricket, but there was big bang of blast near the garbage site where he was extracting something, sources added.
However reliable sources said that it was not ascertained whether the boy was carrying any kind of explosive himself or he was targeted by a grenade, but his one hand was blown in air which is an indication that he himself was carrying some kind of explosives.
Sources added and said that the youth lost his right hand on spot and people who were assembled there shifted injured youth to the nearby hospital Pattan where doctors immediately shifted him to Sher-i- Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) Soura Srinagar in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. Early Times have learnt that the sixteen year old youth was later identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Khan S/O Mohammad Ashraf Khan, a resident of Iqbal colony Pattan.
After the grenade explosion police teams were dispatched to the blast site, while the injured youth was shifted to SKIMS for medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
However a senior police official said that Parvaiz was critically wounded after some explosive substance went off in his hand. "We have registered an FIR vide number 57/2015 under 7/27 arms act and investigation is going on, official said.
