College functioning from ITI building, govt yet to transfer identified lands | At GDC Gool, teachers double as non-teaching staff | | Bivek Mathur Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 15: Government Degree College (GDC) Gool is functioning without non-teaching staff, forcing the teachers to double as non-teaching staff. As per sources, all four posts of non-teaching sanctioned for the college are yet to be filled up because of apathy of the Higher Education department. Also, the college has been functioning from an ITI building for a long time as the Higher Education department is yet to start construction of college building due to some land issues. A piece of land measuring 77 kanals and 9 marlas has been identified for construction of college building, the sources said. Deputy Commissioner Ramban was given revenue papers for raising college building but he referred the case to Divisional Commissioner Jammu for issuance of notification under section 6 and 7 of the Land Acquisition Act. "The Divisional Commissioner Jammu's nod is awaited in the case as he has to issue a final notification in this regard for giving possession of the land identified to the Higher Education department," the sources said. It is pertinent to mention that against the sanctioned 10 posts of teaching staff, only one teacher is available in the college while nine teachers have been availed for the students on academic arrangement. All the Class-IV posts have been filled, though. |
