3 factions issue separate calls over Tral killing | Which is 'real' Hurriyat Conference? | | Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 15: The three factions of Hurriyat Conference in Kashmir, each claiming to be the 'true representative' of the people, are missing no moment to further confuse the situation in the Valley. For example, the Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a strike in Tral on Wednesday against the killing of an alleged militant in a gun battle. On the other hand, the Hurriyat led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq called for 'Pulwama Chalo' while the third Hurriyat whose leader is Shabir Ahmad Shah asked people to observe complete shutdown. The three separate calls infuriated the people who ridiculed the separatist camp for issuing such calls. The social networking siteson Wednesday remained abuzz, with the netizens demanding a halt to such calls which confuse people. "Hurriyat (G) calls for Tral shutdown. Hurriyat(M) calls for Pulwama shutdown. Shabir Shah calls for Kashmir shutdown. What have you called for," Nisar Rather said in his Facebook post. Even Qazi Yasir, the Mirwaiz of south Kashmir, trained guns at the separatist leaders, saying the truth is that the separatists have failed to deliver on ground. "Strike for Tral, strike for Pulwama and strike for Kashmir. The height of non-seriousness and we call ourselves shuhada ke waaris," Yasir wrote in his Facebook post. Other netizens users while condemning the separatists for their confusing programmes, said the tussle among the separatists was not helping the matters. Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed, Geelani's Hurriyat had called for the shutdown in Tral only so that the rally in Srinagar that his supporters had arranged to welcome him on his return from New Delhi was not affected. Sources told Early Times that as Geelani was all set to address his supporters and workers after his arrival from New Delhi on Wednesday, his group had already informed other separatists not to issue any strike call as it would reduce the attendance at his rally. As Geelani was addressing his supporters around his residence at Hyderpora, Srinagar, many people were expressing their anger on social networking sites over the confusing statements and erratic announcements. |
