When Geelani, Masarat Alam were shouting anti-India slogans, BJP leaders were enjoying pleasant weather of Kashmir | Power hungry BJP leaders accepting everything "unacceptable" | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 15: The self-proclaimed "patriotic" BJP has maintained a "blind eye and deaf ear" towards biggest ever anti-India rally in Kashmir Valley in the recent past. When radical leader Masarat Alam along with hardcore Hurriyat Conference leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani was shouting deafening anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans in the Valley amidst Pakistani flags, senior "nationalist" BJP leaders were also in the Valley. Today's rally has reminded the people about 1990's anti-India atmosphere in Kashmir Valley when such rallies were routine affairs. First time during the last some years such rally has been organised which was flooded with Pakistani flags and echoed with pro-Pakistan and anti-India sloganeering. First time in the recent past, Pakistani flags fly ahead of tourist season which is an indication of "hot" summer this year Political observers believed that it is result of weak policies of the BJP government at the Centre and indecisiveness of the state unit of BJP that anti-India elements have become so active in Kashmir Valley. Separatist leader Masarat Alam, who was released from jail just weeks back, on Wednesday unfurled Pakistan's flag at Lal Chowk of Srinagar. The Hurriyat hardliner, who was released from Baramulla prison last month by the PDP-BJP coalition government, was seen standing amidst a mob and holding an anti-India rally. He was raising anti-India slogans to greet pro-Pakistan leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani of the Hurriyat. Reacting to the development, Congress slammed the PDP-BJP alliance and said that they have released a man who holds strong anti-India views. "The first step that BJP and PDP did in J&K was to release Masarat Alam, a man responsible for stone-pelting and anti-India slogans. It's unfortunate, the incidents that are unfolding in Srinagar," Congress leader RPN Singh was quoted as saying by a news agency. Instead of taking a tough stand, the arrogant BJP leadership repeated its oft-repeated statement that it is unacceptable. Everything unacceptable to BJP is going unabated in Kashmir and party is helplessly watching these developments. "The manner in which Pakistani flags were being raised during a protest in Srinagar is completely unacceptable. The government should take cognizance of the matter," said BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said. |
