R S Pura, Apr 15: Alleging mal practice, local residents of Simbal Camp and adjoining villages protested on R S Pura-Jammu main road and disrupted traffic for more than three hours against Block Development Officer and demanded probe into the 'cheque distribution issue.'
The protestors were demanding detailed probe into the 'cheque distribution issue' when the Rural Development Department recently distributed the cheques of Rs 12,000/- for construction of Indian House Hold Latrines ( IHHLs) few days ago and the benefits were doled to blue eyed only.
Agitating protestors alleged that department and some sarpanches have managed to give the benefit under 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' to undeserving persons and the real beneficiaries were totally ignored. The protestors alleged that there is a big nexus operating at BDO Office Miran Sahib and no work is done without bribe, many officials are completely involved in it.
Pertinent to mention that two days ago, the local MLA- R S Pura Dr Gagan Bhagat has asked SDM R S Pura to look into the matter regarding this episode to ascertain the facts.
S Hardev Singh, S Nirmal Singh Mehta, S Gurcharan Singh, Sarpanch Om Prakash, Sarpanch Ashok Singh, Charanjeet , Geeta Devi, Avtar Singh, Sarpanch Dara Singh, Panch Manmohan, Panch Shakti Singh, Panch Omkar, Sarpanch Deep Raj, Panch Gursharan Pal and others also participated in this protest. |
