BARAMULLA, May 16: The security forces on Saturday said they busted a hideout in Baramulla district in north Kashmir. A senior Army official told Early Times that based on the specific intelligence from a unit source, the troops of 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) along with the police launched a search operation in Gooriwan-Zandfaran forests of Baramulla on the intervening night of May 15-16 which continued till Saturday morning. "A huge cache of arms, ammunition and war-like stores were recovered," said the official. The recovery, he said, included 1 AK 47 rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, 1 Chinese pistol, 2 magazines of Chinese pistol, 28 rounds of Chinese pistol, 8 RPGs, 3 UBGL, 20 UBGL rounds, 8 RPG boosters, 10 hand grenades, 2 wireless sets and 1 Global Positioning System (GPS). It is pertinent to mention here that, Security forces had busted a militant hideout, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition including 33 IEDs in Sopore area of Baramulla district on May 12. |
