Geelani wrong, RSS and BJP against Jammu's empowerment
Setting record straight

Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: Pakistani agent and rank communalist Syed Ali Shah Geelani has accused the RSS of striving to de-link Jammu province from Kashmir Valley and threatened that the Kashmiri nation will not allow it to achieve its objective. The RSS and allied parties, including the BJP, have increased influence in Jammu province, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has said, adding that a formal campaign has been started at government levels to separate this division from the Kashmir division. "The key and top posts in the administration are likely to be snatched from the Muslim community at the first stage. Reports coming from the Jammu division regarding the activities of the communal forces are very concerning and most worrying issue is the government machinery is being openly and fearlessly used for this process. A strong movement has been launched to remove the Urdu language, which is the identity of the Muslims, from revenue, police, judiciary and education departments. Not only the transfer of some key posts which are occupied by the Muslim officers has been planned in these departments but these posts are to be filled by the communal elements who can manage everything for their agendas," Geelani has said. He said also said that the attitude of the BJP members in the Assembly was very aggressive and rebellious and they are "hell bent" to prove Jammu and Kashmir as two separate entities and they are openly working on this project.
Geelani, it is clear, is blissfully ignorant about the RSS and its affiliate BJP, which is part of the J&K Government. Neither the RSS nor the BJP favour separation of Jammu province from Kashmir Valley. Both are bitterly opposed to the demand in Jammu for the Jammu's political empowerment through some definite political instrument, as also for the division of the state. The fact of the matter is that both the RSS and the BJP want to weaken the nationalist Jammu and strengthen communal forces in the Valley by granting them absolute legislative, executive and financial powers. In fact, the BJP-led NDA Government and those in the BJP on deputation from the RSS like Ram Madhav and Ram Lal (both national general secretaries) have already handed over everything to Kashmir and rendered the patriotic people of Jammu province ineffective and unreal for all practical purposes. They have signed a power-sharing formula that is out and out Kashmir-centric and out and out anti-Jammu.
Geelani says that the RSS and the BJP want the state's division and segregate Jammu province from Kashmir. This is absolutely wrong. The RSS, which did float in 2002 an outfit - Jammu State Morcha - to fight the 2002 Assembly elections and fight for statehood for Jammu province, not only made the Jammu State Morcha defunct after the Assembly elections but also ordered its cadres not to speak in favour of Jammu statehood. The JSM had won one seat in 2002 and it was Ashwini Sharma who had won from the Bishnah Assembly constituency. Interestingly, the BJP had also won only one seat - Nagrota Assembly seat. It is not just the RSS which is opposed to the demand in Jammu for separation from Kashmir. The BJP also follows in the footsteps of the RSS. There was a time when it used to demand development board/regional council for Jammu, but after 2002 it never demanded any adequately empowered political instrument for the politically marginalized and economically ignore Jammu region. Before the Assembly elections, it also used to demand Union territory status for Ladakh but it did a complete U-turn during the 2014 Assembly elections. In fact, it lost the election in Ladakh because it ditched the people of the region by giving up the demand for the UT status. It was the Congress which sought and got votes on the UT status plank and won three out of four seats from the region.
Geelani and his ilk should read the RSS and the BJP literature to find what these so-called nationalist and pro-Hindu organizations actually stand for. The RSS and the BJP are not the friends of the people of Jammu province, especially the Hindus, they are friends of Kashmir and Kashmiri Muslims.
