PCP M.Ed begins, name of teachers again not displayed

JAMMU, May 16: Not with standing to Chancellor's order to conduct personal contact programme (PCP), classes for M.Ed second semester begun by Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu, without displaying name of teachers' on notice board, who are teaching the students.
According to notification displayed in DDE, PCP second semester M.Ed session 2014-15 was to be started on May 16, 2015. "PCP for enrolment number 1 to 600 begun from May 16, 2015, will conduct at hall number 1-6 new building, for 20 working days. However, classes for enrolment number 601 to 1017 will begin on June 15, 2015 at same places and time", the notification reading, without mentioning the name of teacher who would take the classes.
Sources told Early Times that the Chancellor of the University had directed the JU authorities' to display name of faculty member who will teach during the PCP to bring transparency in the functioning of University. "Taking cognizane of media reports that the M Phil scholar had taught MEd students. The Chancellor, Governor NN Vohra, had expressed displeasure over the practice adopted by the authorities", sources said, adding that might be University adopting same practice.
Smelling a rat in arrangements made for PCP, the sources said that the list of teachers who were engaged to teach the students has deliberately not been displayed. "Programme in-charge should at-least display the list of teachers/ faculty who teach the students", they said and added that UGC had clearly mentioned NET/PhD as eligibility for same course.
When contacted, Director DDE, Prof VD Singh, who was out of station said that it has been conveyed to teachers are employed for the task telephonically by coordinator. "The coordinator has informed me that, she had conveyed to all concerned persons telephonically, and lists have been pasted on walls in different places", he added.
But the copy of list pasted on walls DDE, available with ET reads on times, venue and name of single teachers is not mentioned on the list.
