CUK Registrar inaugurates campus placement drive | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 12: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, today inaugurated the two-day campus placement drive under the centrally sponsored project Udaan, at varsity's Nowgam academic block. The drive is being organized by the CUK through its Department of Management Studies and Directorate of Students Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with Mount Talent Consulting. Prof. Afzal Zargar hailed this maiden drive under project Udaan and opined that the worth of an institution of higher education is established by the quality and quantum of placements it arranges for the students. He said the students need to be exposed to external competitive environment. The varsity Registrar assured full support and cooperation of the University for All Student Centric Initiatives by various departments of the University. He complimented the departments of Management Studies and Tourism Studies in ensuing placements of their students to a reasonably good level. He also spoke on the role of alumni and the promotion of academic-industry linkages to fill the skill gaps. Department of Management Studies, Dean and Head, Prof. Abdul Gani advised the participants to interact with the visiting team with enthusiasm and take it seriously to get desired results. Central Placement Cell of the varsity, chairman, Prof. S. Fayyaz Ahmad while speaking on the occasion said that the era of government jobs has virtually come to an end and the youth shall have to build up their capacity to fit the requirements of the private sector. Welcoming the participants, the Director Students Welfare, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Nika stated that hand holding of the youth to show the path of shaping their career as per their aspirations and requirements of the industry is the need of the hour. On the occasion, the details of the placement drive under project Udaan were given by Farooq Malik and Ravi Gupta of Mount Talent Consulting. Mirzadi Uzma and Varun Tiwari from Mount Talent Consulting, Convergent Journalism Department Coordinator, Asif Khan, were also present on the occasion. Chief Proctor, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Shah presented the vote of thanks while as Dr. Ihsan-ur-Rahim Malik, Cultural Coordinator of the University conducted the programme proceedings. |
