Bijay Charak Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 12: J&K's bureaucrats have created a record of sorts by inviting applications from areas along Actual Line of Control (ALC) for district cadre posts from the 10 districts which, however, don't fall along the Line of Control. Some days ago, J&K Service Selection Board issued a notification under No. 04 of 2015, dated 10. 08. 2015, for recruitment against various vacancies under state, divisions and districts for which applications have been invited. Later, JKSSB advertised 587 posts under categories falling under OM/ SC/ST/OBC/RBA/ALC/OSC. In Jammu division, it has published 21 posts in various departments under ALC category in which 16 posts are for Doda district, one for Udhampur, and two each for Kishtwar and Reasi. Similarly, it has reserved various posts under ALC category in various districts of Kashmir division. The posts include three each for Srinagar and Kulgam, four for Anantnag, one each for Pulwama and Ganderbal, and two for Bandipora. Most of the vacancies are in Education Department, Health, Agriculture Production, Finance, Accounts, Power Development, Rural Development and Revenue. As per the advertisement, departments seek ALC candidates from these districts where ALC category certificates cannot be issued. For example, Udhampur district shares its boundary with Rajouri in the west, Jammu in the south-west, Doda district in the east and Kathua in the south-east. It also shares boundary with Anantnag in the north but it doesn't share its boundary with Pakistan and China, as J&K shares its boundary with these two neighboring countries. When asked to explain the bizarre criteria for the jobs, SSB Secretary S.A Raina sought to pass the buck. He told Early Times that the Board is medium between the candidates and the government. "Government and concerned departments fix categories for various posts being advertised. We are only recruiting agency", he said Suresh Kumar, a job aspirant, said, "Topographical ignorance on the part of departments is really a matter of concern and it needs to be rectified so that exploitation of youth can be stopped." He said it was astonishing that unemployed youth are being taken for a ride. "There is anguish and resentment among youth of the state and the youth is feeling cheated by the recruitment agencies and government departments," he said. |
