Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 12: IGP Mukesh Singh has again moved to Centre on deputation and got a posting in the prestigious NIA which is probing into the recent Udhampur terror attack.
Dis-satisfied over his posting, he had applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for his central deputation, according to police sources.
Mukesh, a 1996 batch IPS officer, has served at different positions in the state. He has also served as SSP, Jammu, but following a controversy, he had proceeded to the Centre on deputation and got a posting in NIA.
During his earlier posting in NIA, he had visited the state several times on important assignments and was part of the team which had apprehended militants from Kishtwar.
He was called back by the state government from NIA in March this year and posted in the police headquarters at IGP (personnel). He hoped to get some important posting in the state and even aspired to become IGP, Jammu.
Sources said his name was discussed for his posting as IGP, Jammu, but in the cabinet meeting, it was decided to post Danish Rana as IGP here.
Not satisfied with his posting, he again applied for his posting at the Centre and using his connections, he got a posting in NIA which he has already served during his previous stint at the Centre. The MHA letter No 21016/18/2010 as regards his posting in NIA was written to the state government on August 3 last. On the very next day, police headquarters also wrote a letter No PKSM/16/IPS in this regard.
"The Home Department has now issued an Order No 335, relieving Mukesh," sources informed.
