`Omar dis-empowered, alienated youth' | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 12: NC Working President and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah condemned the harassment of youth across the Valley saying such tactics would lead to further alienation and isolation. "The anti-youth tendencies of the PDP-BJP Government of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed have exposed PDP's inherent hypocrisy. Omar's concern for youth is highly appreciable but when he ran the show, the youth were at the receiving end. In his regime, the minors were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA). This was admitted by the former Union Home Secretary. Today everybody is worried about youth joining militancy. The PDP-BJP government is just five month old and such a big transformation cannot take place in a short span of time. The unfortunate phenomenon, therefore, has roots in the precious regime. Omar must admit this and tender an unconditional apology. Omar also talked about empowerment of youth. He wants to involve them in policy making and governance. However, when Omar led regime killed around 130 youth in 2010, he came up with a so-called package on Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah's birthday. But this package gave just doles to the youth. The so-called employment policy framed by Omar government was a severe assault on the integrity and honour of the youth. |
