High command asks Sr BJP leader to perform a difficult task | Kolkata lecture on Mookerjee | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 12: The "directionless" BJP high command and its "confused and ambivalent" mentor RSS, which control the Kolkata-based Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee foundation, the other day asked the senior BJP leader to perform a very difficult task of delivering the "main lecture" on Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The minister showed courage, accepted the difficult job and today delivered the main lecture on life and history of Mookerjee, who had laid down his life in Kashmir on June 23, 1953 while fighting for "Ek Vidhaan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan" and accelerating the process of the state's integration with India. Mookerjee had willfully violated the obnoxious permit system and entered the state from Lakhanpur, Gateway of Jammu & Kashmir, knowing it very well that his action would lead to his arrest by the state police. The Kolkata event was attended by some top RSS and BJP leaders, including BJP national president Amit Shah and number 2 in the RSS Bhaiyya Ji Joshi. Delivering the lecture, the leader said what the founder of Jan Sangh Syama Prasad Mookerjee did within Jammu & Kashmir and outside to get this border state fully integrated into India. He - apart from highlighting the attitude of Mookerjee towards the state that enjoyed a separate status under the pernicious article 370 --- reflected on the circumstances under which Jammu province witnessed a mass movement between 1952 and 1953, which is known in the nationalist history of India as "Ek Vidhaan (one constitution), Ek Pradhan (one Prime Minister), Ek Nishan (one flag) Andolan (movement)". He described his contribution to the nation as outstanding and his sacrifice as supreme and also claimed that the BJP leadership and cadres draw their inspiration from Mookerjee and the supreme sacrifice that he made for the national cause in Kashmir which was known for anti-India activities and where fanatics and votaries of Switzerland-type Independent Kashmir" Sheikh Abdullah had upped their ante against India and challenged the otherwise lawful accession of the state with India. Nirmal Singh reiterated that the BJP is committed to treading the path Mookerjee charted for the nation more than 62 years ago. The minister was asked to deliver lecture on Mookerjee's life and times at a time when the BJP was under severe attack in Jammu and elsewhere in the country or at a time when the agenda of alliance on the basis of which the coalition government assumed office on March1st, 2015, was under a very serious scrutiny. The critics describe the agenda of alliance as a "complete negation of what Mookerjee stood for, fought for and gave his life for", as also as "an agenda of subversion". They say that the "BJP ministers not only took oath in the name of Jammu & Kashmir Constitution but also diluted the BJP's stand on Ek Nishan" and that "the agenda of alliance, besides maintaining the status quo in Jammu & Kashmir, also gives a dangerous respectability to Pakistan and Hurriyat leadership in the Valley". The refrain of the critics is that the "BJP murdered martyr Mookerjee in a cold blood just for the sake of some toothless ministries" and that "the BJP has outraged the sensitivities of the nationalist camp in the state". There are cogent reasons for the nationalist camp in Jammu & Kashmir and rest of the country to believe that the BJP committed a grave blunder by adopting an agenda of alliance which was inconsistent with what Mookerjee religiously and with a single-minded devotion worked for. Indeed, the BJP high command and the RSS made the senior BJP minister perform a very difficult task. |
