Police, Army arrest 2 suspects near I-Day venue

Kishtwar, Aug 12: In major success ahead of Independence-Day function, vigilant troops of 8 RR and Kishtwar police arrested two terror suspects, both brothers of slain Lashkar Commander Habib Gujjar alias Salman killed in an encounter with security forces in August 2011 at Nagnigard Keshwan.
As per the details available with "Early Times", after noticing the suspicious activities of two Burka (Veil) clad people dressed in women clothes, the alert troops of 8 RR guarding Independence day function venue at Chowghan ground Kishtwar sounded alert and successfully managed to overpower the duo. As soon as both the suspect were overpowered, the army and policemen immediately whisked them to nearby Kuleed police post from where both were later shifted to police station Kishtwar for further questioning.
While talking to "Early Times", SP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas identified the two suspects as Jamal Din and Abdul Karim both sons of Khair Din resident of Keshwan. He said that both the accused were arrested, added that the investigation of the case is still going on and both the arrested persons have been put to sustained interrogation. He said that in addition to Burka, Jamal Din was wearing ladies Shalwar-Kameez and ladies shoes as well. He said that he was also involved in case FIR No. 248/2010 registered at police station Kishtwar in connection with the murder of mother of ASI Qasim Din along with his slain militant brother and others. He said that Jamal Din is presently out on bail.
"The questioning of both the accused is under way--- it is premature to say anything right now--- as and when anything substantiate during the course of the investigation, same will be shared with media" said SP Kishtwar.
Meanwhile the sources informed the "Early Times" that Kishtwar police and army only a few days ago launched a massive search operation in Keshwan belt after some suspected movement of militants was witnessed in Keshwan area and subsequent missing of Jamal Din under suspicious circumstances. The sources said that during the course of investigation both brothers reveal about some hideouts used by their slain militant brother Habid Gujjar. The sources said that on the basis of specific input given by the two arrested brothers, Kishtwar police and army launched massive hunt in Keshwan and its adjoining areas. The sources said that Kishtwar police is also investigating whether the LeT has plan to target the upcoming Independence parade at Chowghan ground Kishtwar as both the suspected persons were arrested from the Independence day function venue itself.
"It is the matter of investigation whether both had conducted any recee of the independent day parade venue or not-police is keeping all angles open during ongoing investigation" said the sources, added that by tomorrow morning, the things will get cleared. Senior officers of army and IB also took part in questioning of both the accused and all the security agencies working in Kishtwar district are in close touch with police and are cooperating with the police in its investigation.
