Funds misappropriation: RDD officials claim funds released already, Suppliers alleged non-payment of dues

Kathua, Aug 12: In an atypical incident of casual approach of concerned authorities which could allegedly be termed as financial misappropriations, the suppliers of construction material and laborers working under MGNREGA Scheme at construction of C/path, at Mohallha Manhas W-.2, Panchayat Magloor Tehsil Dinga Amb and Rural Development Department engaged in a 'verbal dual' as concerned authorities claim to have released due payment while former denies the charges
Alleging nonpayment against aforesaid MGNREGA Scheme project, the suppliers/ laborers staged protest demonstration and sought due payment to their surprise the department rejecting their claims said that it released funds after completion of project. "The fund which have reached to the right corner might have been diverted somewhere else, apprehended protesting suppliers and alleged huge 'financial misappropriations'. Sunil Kumar, construction material supplier said, "I haven't received any payment even a single penny from Rural Development Department." "Surprisingly when Social Audit Team reached to the village few days back to take stock of ground realties it is come to known that Rs 63,900/- had been released before laying foundation stone of construction work, official sources said. While demanding his pending dues, he said that it is already delayed and he can't afford the blockade of his payments as it would incur huge loss to him. Sawar Singh, Chairman Panchayat Judicial Body Magloor East smelling a foul play has demanded inquiry into this matter. He also expressed concern over release of funds for payment by department without counter checking while the concerned have yet not received a single penny till date.
Ashok Kumar also opinioned similar views and said it came to light that some Sarpanches and few panches duly received such payment and acknowledge the department but funds were not released to genuine person who worked on ground.
He also added the matter has been brought into the notice of BDO Dinga Amb and aggrieved have demanded stern action against guilty officers and Panchayat members.
