| Hyundai Indoor Inter School Cricket Tournament begins at KC Sports Club | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 12: With a view to identifying and encouraging young talent in sports, KC Sports Club with support from Hyundai has launched a monthly event in Cricket from August onward. Teams in the Under-14 age category have been invited from all the reputed schools of Jammu to play in an Indoor Inter School Cricket tournament. The tournament would offer the youngsters the opportunity to showcase their talent. Every month, a team of observers would identify promising youngsters taking part in the event and shortlist them for a month long intensive coaching at the Club free of cost. Today the match was played in the air-conditioned indoor Cricket Hall with 9 pitches, 5 fast and 4 spin pitches with surface of 16000sq. ft. The Tiger Turf surface imported from New Zealand and ideally suited for both pace and spin bowling as well as for batting. Automatic Bola bowling machine is also available for batting practice. The match was played between Project Model School and Naveen Public School. The teams played as per the rules of the indoor Cricket prevalent in the world today. Both the teams played the match with great zeal. The result at the end of the match was as follows Project Model School won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Project Model School put up a score of 28 runs in 12 overs. Agastya and Sandeep scored 9 and 2 runs respectively. In reply, Naveen Public School all out at 13 in 9.2 overs and lost the match. Sidharth scored 6 runs for his side and Mithu made 2 runs. Project Model School qualifies for the semifinal. Semifinal match was played between KC Public School and Project Model School wherein KC Public School won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, KC Public School put up a score of 32 runs in 12 overs. Prabal and Tazim scored 5 and 4 runs respectively. In reply, Project Model School lost all the wickets at 26 in 11 overs and lost the match. Manik scored 5 runs for his side and Arasutu made 3 runs. The final match will be played between KC Public School and KC International School on 13th August. At the end of the match, players practiced with the bola bowling machine to improve their reflexes under the supervision of YSCE coaches. |
