6 bootleggers held with 110 liquor pouches in Jammu | | | Early Times Report Akhnoor/Banihal, Aug 12: Police have arrested six bootleggers in two separate incidents and recovered over hundred pouches of liquor from their possession during surprise checking at Khour-Akhnoor and Banihal of Ramban. The accused identified as Jiya Lal, Ravishan Singh and Jagdev Singh all residents of Pallanwala were arrested by Khour Police while Adil Ahmed, Mudassir Daud Khan and Mubashir Ahmed Khan all resident of Andoora- Shangus of Anantnag were arrested by Banihal Police. According to police spokesman a Police Party of Khour conducted a raid in the shop of Jiya Lal, Ravishan Singh and Jagdev Singh. "During search Police Party recovered 40 pouches of Excise Liquor from their possession, police said and added, "the trio was arrested on the spot and liquor too was seized." A case under FIR No. 55/2015 u/s 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Khour and investigation is on. Meanwhile in a similar incident Police arrested three persons with illicit liquor on highway near Ramsoo during a joint naka checking with SSB at Ramsoo of Ramban. Police said that police team intercepted a Tata Sumo bearing regd no: JK03A-9418 plying towards Srinagar and found 70 poly pouches of JK Desi whisky of 250 ml of each from three occupants of the vehicle. A case stands registered against the accused. |
