AIIMS issue: Bar Association Bhaderwah holds protest demonstration | | | Early Times Report Bhaderwah, Aug 12: Demanding setting up of AIIMS in Jammu, Bar Association Bhaderwah (BAB) on the call of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA), Jammu decided to extend its strike till August 15 to impress upon the BJP for obtaining an appropriate order from the Government of India regarding establishment of AIIMS in Jammu. Chanting pro-AIIMS and anti-government slogans, BAB demanded setting up of the premier medical institute in Jammu, which has reportedly been shifted to Kashmir Valley and also condemned the police action on its members and the peaceful agitators during rallies in Jammu some days back. "We have demanded AIIMS. The strike would continue until the demand is fulfilled and justice done to the people of Jammu region", BAB president, Advocate Davinder Gupta told while addressing the agitating Bar Association members. "The people of Jammu region are being pushed to the wall by the very same people who once claimed to be their soul voice", he alleged. Accusing the government of discriminating against the Jammu region, he informed that Bar Association Bhaderwah has also decided to continue with its strike unless the Centre and the state government make a formal announcement of the return of AIIMS to Jammu. He also accused the Jammu and Kashmir police of manhandling the activists of the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) who were holding peaceful protests in Jammu some days back over the demand for setting up AIIMS in the region. |
