DSU holds protest demonstration against DDE JU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 12: Hundreds of students of Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) University of Jammu today for the second time registered a strong protest in front of Director Office against the DDE & JU under the banner of Distance Students Union (DSU). The Protest was led by DSU President Mukesh Parihar. All the students who gathered here in front of DDE about 1:00 PM started raising slogans in support of their demands and against the rude policies of DDE & Jammu University. While addressing the students, President of the Union Mukesh Parihar said "DDE JU has stopped Political Science, Economics and M.Ed in the Deptt due to which thousands of students have been deprived to continue their higher studies in the state". He further said that majority of students have been deprived to get admission in various PG courses run by DDE as University has made it compulsory to have minimum 60% marks in Graduation to get admission in these courses. "Our protest will continue untill the demands are not met" Parihar added. Pertinently that DSU has shown its resenment earlier too on 12 August. This time the protesting students also submitted charter of demands to the Director which including, making students of Political Science and Economic of DDE as regular students, don't close the M.Ed in DDE, scrap minimum 60% criteria in DDE. Director DDE along with Dy Registrar and Dr. VV Nagendra Rao visited to the protesting students and assured verbally that these subjects will not be stopped and he is trying his best in the issues. While the members of the DSU have given an ultimatum of 5 days to the DDE. |
