NEW DELHI, Aug 12: "Bhuvan" is India's "Google" for India. It is not only an equivalent to "Google" but indeed, to put it precisely, "Bhuvan" is ISRO's India - specific "Google". These remarks were made by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh while addressing a press conference after releasing the new Applications Services of "Bhuvan" portal here today on the occasion of "National Remote Sensing Day" which coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr Vikram Sarabhai, one of the founding fathers of India's space programme. Dr Jitendra Singh said, having been developed purely on the strength of India's technical know-how and through Indian resources and at the same time also for India's specific needs, "Bhuvan" truly represents a glorious instance of the "Make in India" mission undertaken by the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The distinction of "Bhuvan" is that it is tailored to focus view on India and is thus capable of offering high resolution images of the region, he added. |
