Jammu, Aug 12: Three days' orientation programme for freshers admitted to professional degree programmes in agricultural sciences, veterinary sciences and biotechnology in the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) for the academic session 2015-16 was inaugurated by Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the University. According to press release, the Directorate of Education of the University organised orientation programme to make freshers conversant with academic system, University working environment, infrastructure available for academic as well as other extra-curricular activities of the University. Prof. Pradeep K Sharma Vice Chancellor, exhorted upon the students to study dedicatedly besides trying hard to excel in co-curricular and cultural activities for their holistic personality development. He advised students on acquiring cognitive as well as practical skills during the degree programmes to gain professional competence. Prof. TAS Ganai, Director Education, SKUAST Jammu, welcomed all the students and impressed upon them to strive for attainment of excellence in their course of studies to match the expectations of their parents and the society. He also educated the students about the anti-ragging measures adopted in the University to make it ragging free University. Dr. SB Bakshi, Dy. Director Students Welfare spoke about the students' welfare programmes, infrastructure and sports activities available in the University for the overall growth of the students. Details of the library facilities of the University were presented by LD Mengi, Asstt. Librarian. The inaugural function was attended by Prof. RM Bhagat, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. MM S Zama, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & A.H.; Dr.RK Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences; Dr.BB Gupta, Registrar and heads of the divisions and parents of the students. The session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Guleria, In charge Counselling and Placement Cell. |
