Animals died of poisoning: Postmortem report

JAMMU, Oct 9: The Board of Veterinary Doctors constituted by District Magistrate, Udhampur, for postmortem of 3 bovine in Chenani yesterday submitted its report in the evening maintaining that the animals had died due to swallowing some poisonous substance. The board headed by Dr M Krishan Kaw, Superintendent District Vety Hospital and comprised of Dr Ravi Singh Manhas,Clinical Pathologist and Dr Rakesh Kumar VAS, today furnished the postmortem report and a technical report regarding circumstantial evidence regarding the incident apart from laboratory tests of organs.
The postmortem report reveals a uniform pattern of consumption of grains of wheat and maize, blotted rumen, scanty injesta and echhinotic hemorrhagis.
The board concluded that the bovine animals died of consuming poisonous substance. The presence of uniform maize and grain in the stomach of animals is being examined since rotten maize and wheat grain samples were also lifted from waste disposed outside a nearby poultry farm.
Meanwhile an enquiry has been ordered into the incident as two birds were also found dead after consuming poisonous substance. The owner of poultry farm is also being questioned in the matter. The Postmortem report also revealed that no grievous injury was inflicted upon animals and one cow had a lacerated wound.
Instigation into the incident is under progress since FIR 95/2015 u/s 298 A stands registered in Police Station Chenani . Three persons were taken in custody for questioning in the matter.
District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with DIG Udhampur Surinder Kumar Gupta, SSP Suleiman Choudhary, ADC Angrez Singh Rana, senior officers and board of doctors convened a meeting this evening to review the technical report and also situation in the area.
The situation remained peaceful as protests were registered all across the district without any reports of violence. National Highway was blocked at Garhi, Rehambal, Bhattal, Chenani while other roads at Majalta and Ramnagar were also blocked however blockades were lifted after intervention of local Magistrates and Police officers . The markets remained close all through the day.
District Magistrate, Udhampur, has appealed the people to maintain calm and assured of action against any person found indulged in hurting religious sentiments. He appreciated the communal harmony expressed by people of Udhampur setting an example and at the same time assured of zero tolerance against any such attempt to disturb peace. The DIG Udhampur-Reasi and SSP Udhampur visited various areas. Meanwhile ADM Rajiv Magotra and Addl SP Mohan Lal Kaith negotiated with protestors at Chenani and lifted blockade.
