Fire Services, Animal husbandry deptt lock horns over land dispute | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report
Aanantnag, Oct 9: Prized land measuring over 14 kanals of land alongside the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in South Kashmir's Bijbehara town has become an issue of contention between Fire and Emergency Services and Animal husbandry department. Official sources revealed Chief Animal officer Anantnag has formally lodged a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag after the Fire and Emergency Service department refused to surrender land which they have allegedly occupied illegally. "Recently state government allotted 2 kanals of land to Animal husbandry department near the Fire and Emergency department's Bijbehara station after they surrendered their land to tourism department but the Fire and Emergency services department is showing extreme reluctance in surrendering the land," official pleading anonymity said. He said that after the chief animal husbandry officer's approach, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag directed revenue authorities to go far the demarcations of the land in question. Meanwhile a revenue team led by Tehsildar Bijbehara Abdul Rouf visited the area and demarcated the land. Demarcation report accessed by Early Times reveals that the Fire and Emergency Department has occupied more than 10 kanals of land illegally. "Complying orders, our filed agency carried out demarcation in presence of Fire and Emergency Services Department of the land of Fire and Emergency Services station Bijbehara and it was found that 748403.75 sqr. Feet i,e; 14 Kanals & 08 marlas are presently occupied by the department, however the land revenue records show that the land measuring 2 Kanals is recorded in the name of Fire and Emergency Services department under Khasra No. 691 at village Jablipora but on spot the department is in possession of 13 kanals and more than 13 marlas," Demarcation copy forwarded to DC Anantnag reveals. "There is no entry, transfer of land, or sanction from any competent authority or cabinet sanction for 13 Kanals and 07 marlas of land which they have taken into their procession," reads the report. Pertinently, a few months ago Animal Husbandry department surrendered land measuring 3 kanals and 7 marals along with a double story building to Tourism department. Later state cabinet sanctioned 2 kanals of land to Animal Husbandry department behind the Fire and Emergency services station building in Bijbehara but the department has refused to surrender the land vacant state. Refusal to surrender the land has forced the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Anantnag to file a written complaint with Deputy Commissioner. Tehsildar Bijbehara Abdul Raouf when contacted confirmed the authenticity of the demarcation report accessed by Early Times. |
