Srinagar, Oct 9: The state government on Friday said the previous regime headed by Omar Abdullah left liability of Rs 7437.49 crore including Rs 5000 crore on account of power purchase. In reply to the question of MLA Sat Pal Sharma seeking details of the liabilities left by the previous government, the Under Secretary to Government Finance Department on behalf of the minister in-charge Finance stated that the liabilities as on 3-3-2015 at various treasuries of the state were to the tune of Rs 2437.49 crore and Rs 2853.69 crore as on 1-04-2015 which include salaries, wages and contractors' payments. In addition, Rs 5000 crore liability was pending on account of power purchase from various PSUs/companies. This however does not include the liabilities of the various departments for which the bills/cheques were not presented at the treasuries by the said date. In reply to another question regarding steps taken for clearing the liabilities in each sector, the government stated that the liabilities at the level of treasuries are being cleared on daily basis depending upon the resources. Also, the payments on account of salaries, wages, pension, relief, CDF, purchase of food grains are being made on daily basis. However, the payments in respect of G P Fund, purchase of power, contractors, are being regulated as per the availability of money. |
