Jammu, Oct 9: The administration of Sant Bal Yogeshwar Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Dadwara (SBYBVMD) school in Billawer has expelled a Class 9 girl student in the middle of the session. The school charged fee from the student Ananya Upadhya till September but gave her school-leaving certificate from April. "The administration told us Ananya was expelled because she was a weak student," said Sujata Upadhya, mother of Ananya. Few days ago, she said they were informed by the administration that their daughter has been expelled. She said it is the responsibility of the school to work on a child if he or she is weak in studies. "But expelling her in the middle of the session has sent our daughter into depression. We are left with no option but to move court," she said. "Ananya secured 85 percent marks in Class 8 in the same school. At that time the school was affiliated with the Board of School Education. But later the school got affiliated with CBSE, and due to change in the education pattern, most of students in the school were confused and could not perform well. But only our daughter was targeted," said Ananya's mother. Principal of the school, Neetu Choudhary, refused to comment on the issue when contacted by Early Times. "I don't want any kind of discussion with you," she said before disconnecting the call. Wondering over the school's decision to expel the student, Chief Education Officer, Kathua, Balbir Singh satd the school would have to readmit the student. "There is no provision to expel student without any reason in mid session," he said, adding that either school has to readmit the child or face action. |
