Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 9: Embarking upon the austerity measures to cleanse the education system in district Rajouri of all felonies attached to the private tuition at galore, the Director Education Jammu , Smita Sethi has assured that strict action will be mooted in this regard and anybody found undertaking the private tuitions will be brought under notice.
Expressing her astonishment over the banned practice going unabated in Rajouri district, the District Commissioner immediately came out with an order to all CEOs under her domain to keep a strict vigil on any such practice and immediately report to her so that punitive action can be taken against them.
" I have released the order to all the Chief Education Officers falling under my jurisdiction with a message clear and loud that any teacher , master or principal found giving private tuitions to the students after the school hours be brought under the legal ambit so that action under the law can be taken against him or her," said Smita Sethi while talking to Early Times .
It was reported in Rajouri district that many of the teachers of the government school spend hours at their homes giving tuition to the students of the rich and influential people who pay hefty amounts as tuition fee to the teachers to satiate their money needs.
This has evoked irking response from the parents and the students belonging to low income group who cannot afford to pay the tuition fee and hence their children remain deprived of such educational succor.
" It is not that for making more money that we impart education to the students desirous of needing extra benefit, but to chisel and hone their academic skills to meet the challenges of competition," said one the government teacher who practices tuitions at his home to a batch of twenty students of class VII.
This was heavily refuted by the poor parent whose ward too reads in the same school and in same class but could not afford to send his son for tuition due to heavy tuition fee.
" If the teachers ,masters and principals are so honest in imparting quality education to the students , why they do it at their homes and do not take extra classes in the school itself so that the entire student community could be benefitted ," said a hapless poor father of the student.
Section 28, RTE Act 2009 states that, "No teacher shall engage himself or herself in private tuition or private teaching activity", banning all teachers, irrespective of whether they work in government or private elementary schools, from taking private tuition.
