Sanpora-Vailoo tunnel awaits FM approval | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Srinagar Oct 9: The much anticipated project of construction of Kashmir valley with Kishtwar District through a 5.50 KM Sangpora-Vailoo tunnel is still on and has not been shelved, but is awaiting approval from Union Finance Ministry. In reply to AQ.No 435 of MLA Abdul Rahim Rather that whether government has any plan to construct the road for Kokarnag-Vailoo to Sangpora-Kishtwar with the construction of tunnel between Ahlan and Sangpora, under secretary to government Public Works (R&B) Department stated that a preliminary proposal for construction of road from Kokernag (Vailoo) to Sangpora (Kishtwar having a length of 15 KM and 5.50 KM tunnel has been submitted to government of India, Ministry of Roads Transport and Highways for consideration and approval under External Loan Assistant. The reply further stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, GOI vide No. 11017/31/2014-1C Dated 31-07-2015 has requested Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, GoI to recommend the project under Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), Official Development Assistance for loan assistance and the sanction for the same is still awaited. |
