Nagrota, Oct 9 : Three persons were arrested with contraband Nagchatri (medicinal herb) at Nagrota in city outskirts here. On a tip-off, police intercepted a van near Nagrota, which was on its way from Doda to Jammu this afternoon.
During frisking, 105 kg nagchatri was recovered from that van. The arrested were identified as Baldev Singh, Ravi Kumar and Joginder Singh, all residents of Churta in Assar of Doda.
Nagchatri is a rare medicinal herb found in forest areas of Doda and Kishtwar districts and its market value is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees. |
