BCE organizes Inter-College Symposium | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Nov. 7: Bhartiya College of Education Udhampur today organized a symposium on the topic "Ill effects of Fire Crackers" in the college premises which was organized to bring awareness among the students in this behalf. The event was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp. Rakesh Jamwal, Joint Director Planning District Udhampur was the Chief Guest on the occasion. About 13 speakers from various colleges of Udhampur participated in the event. While speaking on the topic Akhter Hussain of GDC Boys Udhampur stressed how more than 500 crores rupees are spent on fire-Crackers. Which is sheer wastage of money which otherwise could be utilized for some better purpose. Meenal from GCW Udhampur wanted to evoke the 'Ram in us than Rawan', Ruby and Himani from Bhartiya College advised to spend this money with the underprivileged. Pankaj from Bhim Singh College of Education Udhampur reminded the audience that it is our duty to save the environment that is becoming a health hazard because of fumes produced by burning of fire crackers. The Chief Guest while addressing the students spoke as to how the burning of fire -crackers has ill effects on us and took a pledge along with Principal, faculty members and students to say no to fire-crackers and celebrate Diwali with only light. Cash Prizes were distributed to the winners of the symposium. First and third prize went to Shabina and Akhter Hussain Azad from GDC Boys Udhampur while the second prize was given to Madhu from Bhartiya College. Certificates of participation were also distributed among the participants. |
