PM’s package offers nothing for unemployed youths of Chenab valley

Kishtwar, Nov 7: Much to the disappointment of unemployed youths of Chenab valley and particularly for those employees who got retrenched with the completion of Baglihar Power Project Phase II which was today inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as both PM and Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir fails to announce any new power projects for state in today's Rs. 80000 crore package.
While talking to "Early Times", labour union leader Ajay Kumar Sharma said that the unemployed youths of all the three Districts of Chenab Valley viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban are eagerly waiting to earmark of funds for the power projects to be constructed in Chenab valley viz 1000 MW Pakal-Dool HEP, 650 MW Keru and other power projects to be constructed in Kishtwar District added that all these projects could not be started due to shortage of funds with State Government. He said that power projects are the main sources of job creation added that PM as well as State Government should considered immediate inclusion of special package for construction of power projects so that local unemployed youth could get job opportunity with the opening of these power projects.
" Government has earmarked Rs. 11708 Crore for Power, New and Renewable Energy, but nothing for any new power projects to be constructed in District Kishtwar-this is really very disappointing" Said Ajay Sharma. "If PM would have announced the handing over of Salal, Uri and Dool-Hasti power projects to the state government, it would have been better then Rs. 80000 cr package announced by the PM to be utilized in next five years" said Ajaiz Naik. He said that handing over of three power projects to State Government will fulfill the continue flow of funds for the State Government to the tune of approximately Rs. 10 Cr/day. He said that State as well as Center Government should focus on tapping the waste power potential in Chenab valley so that J&K become self sufficient in economic. He said that even though major component of PM's Rs. 80000 cr package contains Rs. 42611 Cr for Roads and Highway projects, but to the disappointment of many roads of Chenab Valley are the major headache for the people and said that PM package did not mention anything about poor roads in the area. It is pertinent to mention that PM Rs 80000Cr special package consists of Rs. 42611Cr for Roads and Highway projects, Rs. 7854 crore for Flood relief, reconstruction and flood management, Rs. 4900 crore for health including creation of two AIIMS-like institutions in capital cities of the State, and support for creation of infrastructure in hospitals and Primary Health Centres, Rs. 2600 Crore for Human Resource Development, Skill Development and sports which includes establishment of IIT and IIM in Jammu; Rs. 529 crore for Agriculture and Food Processing, Rs. 2241 crore for Tourism, Rs. 2312 crore for Urban Development which includes amounts under Smart Cities and Swachh Bharat missions; and for infrastructure in towns of Jammu and Kashmir, Rs. 5263 Crore for Security and Welfare of displaced people which includes amounts towards jobs for Kashmiri migrants, rehabilitation of families from Chhamb and PoK, construction of houses, and setting up of five India Reserve Battalions, Rs. 11708 Crore for Power, New and Renewable Energy and Rs. 50 Crore for Pashmina Promotion Project.
