Omar's heart beats for Pakistan, separatists | ‘Modi's visit did not yield anything’ | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 7: Former Chief Minister and National Conference president, Omar Abdullah Saturday said Modi's visit was disappointing as "it did not yield anything." Addressing a crowded press conference immediately after Modi's rally, Omar said the Prime Minister should have initiated a dialogue with Pakistan and announced it from here. The former Chief Minister said the crackdown on separatist was a slur on democracy. He said, "The way Mufti government has been giving hype to Modi's visit, we had lot of expectations much bigger than announcement of any package which has been a routine… But nothing has been done with regard to the resolution of Kashmir issue which is long pending," Omar who was flanked by NC cadres Tanvir Sadiq and Junaid Azim Mattu said. Referring to the peaceful march undertaken by RSS in Jammu recently, Omar said if they were given permission why was million march foiled. "Modi Ji only talked of Jamhuriyat, Insaniyat and Kashmiriyat. Jamhuriyat is caging of them (separatists), Insaniyat is burning of Kashmiri people in Udhampur and Kashmiriyat is beating of Engineer Rashid in Assembly," Omar ridiculed. Omar said infact Modi ridiculed Mufti by not talking anything about Kashmir dispute or talks with Pakistan. "For that matter Modi didn't even talk of initiation of dialogue process with the separatists, wihc was quite expected, " Omar said. He said this all was unfortunate. Omar Abdullah, who some years ago personally met the then Pakistan President Parvez Musharaff in Karachi, believes that dialogue with Pakistan is a must. Like his grandfather, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, he too has upped his ante against the RSS and other similar parties and often prefers to highlight the issues of Muslims alone and Kashmir's relation with Pakistan. |
