G S Asgotra Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 7:Despite repeatedly claimed by Higher Education Minister, Neam Akther that state government is committed to implement rationalized policy in education sector, Government Degree College (GDC) Bani narrates reality of much hyped policy, to cure derail system in state, especially in remotest areas. As vacant of post Principal and only one regular lecturer in GDC, is enough to expose government's claims. Though, the College has eight contractual lecturers. Ironically, the administrative post (principal) is vacant, for around two months, has not been filed by the government. Source in higher education department informed Early Times that concerned department has failed to provide required teaching staffs for GDC Bani, since the college started functioning. "It seems that government has disowned its responsibility, to provide quality education among the students in rural areas. It is very unfortunate, that government has left future of students on the mercy of God", they said, adding that like his predecessors, sitting MLA is also not taking interest to cure the ailing education system in mountainous constituency. "As influential Assistant College Professors using money power, have been serving at their choices places, while poor people have no option to send their children for higher education, as no infrastructure and men power are being provided by the government", they said. Making mockery of transfer policy, a contractual lecture said that the last month the higher education department had transferred principal of GDC Hiranagar, Sohan Lal to GDC Bani vice NK Gupta, while principal NK Gupta had joined to GDC Hiranagar just after announcement made by the department but Sohan Lal so far has not been joined GDC Bani. "But after a month of his earlier transfer, Sohan Lal, has managed to take plum posting in GDC, Basholi, rather than joining GDC Bani ", he said. The callous approach of the department towards far-flung areas could be gauged from the fact that after lapse of around two months, the post of principal GDC, has not been filled, despite issuance of second list of transfers of Principals released two days back. Paradoxically, established five years back, the collage is still running in rented building. |
