Jammu, Nov 7: Is Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh's team of PR section incapable of doing its job 'well' and unable to deliver on 'expected' lines …? Consistent attack against Singh in the past and its inability to respond, leave alone countering suggests this in affirmative. After Deputy Chief Minister, it is now nearly half a dozen staffers engaged for PR management who are now under severe criticism from various quarters including the party itself.
Sources said After elevation to second highest post in the alliance government Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh took on board as many as 5-6 people as his personal staff for looking after the PR section. This was in a way required also since there are many vital departments he is looking after in the government, sources said. However, what came as a disappointment in the first place was all of them were first timers and novices for the job that they are mandated to handle, even though it is entirely the discretion of the minister to choose any one for the assignment, sources said, adding that in this case most of the people taken on board were more on the basis of 'recommendations' rather than on any merit considerations.
Sources said those handling PR management of Deputy Chief Minister at present have in the past been working. Whether with some organisations or with some persons in private capacity. Even though in their case the credentials and loyalty is not being questioned, but there are some people with other BJP ministers and even with the Speaker Kavinder Gupta whose association with rival party of the BJP have been intriguingly enigmatic for the rank and file of BJP, sources said. Sources said, however, there are whispers within the party this time for the PR team of Deputy Chief Minister for the reason that they have not responded for a single occasion during the past 8 months over several issues which went against him. Since Deputy CM is also considered to be the face of the government, this was warranted in the wake of the fact that on certain issues the attack and allegations against him tarnished the image of the BJP as well, sources said these things were being discussed with concern within the party.
With repeated negative and adverse comments having become a part of Deputy CM and BJP as a whole in the social media, the party leaders are watching with serious concern the role of the PR team of Dr Singh and have conveyed it that the decision to assign them jobs should be reviewed since no effort has been seen from their end to handle the situations effectively . |
