Srinagarites shock PDP MP, attend rally in large numbers | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Nov 7: Contrary to a PDP MP's belief, the people of Srinagar today attended Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's rally in large numbers. He had hinted at staying away from the rally. His reluctance was perceived as a message to his supporters to skip the rally. But much to his dismay, the people from city attended the rally. The PDP leader had made it clear that he had not received any invitation for attending the rally. Had I received the invitation, I would still not have attended it," he said, adding he already had cleared his stand over the PDP-BJP alliance in public over its failure and governance deficit. "My battle is the battle of conscience and not the battle of ideas. The idea of formation of PDP has been enslaved. I still demand course correction by PDP leadership." But despite such anti- PDP rants, he didn't succeed in stopping people of his constituency from attending the rally. Reports inform atleast five to six thousand people hailing from Srinagar attended PM's rally. What would be more shocking for the PDP MP is that he had made hectic efforts to give clear signals to his supporters to stay away from the rally. "There was huge crowd from Srinagar, particularly from the down town areas including Khanyar, Nowpora, Samander Bagh and several other areas. We even saw people from Batmaloo attending PM's rally," said a PDP office bearer. He said that party was sceptic that whether the people hailing from Srinagar areas would attend the rally but the number of people from summer capital turned out to be a surprising entity for the party. Meanwhile, PDP's Srinagar district president Khurshid Alam when contacted said he was thankful to the people of the district to attend the rally with such enthusiasm. "We worked really hard to make the rally a success and people from Srinagar deserve kudus in doing their bit," Alam said. |
