One yr RI, Rs 10000 fine awarded to rape accused | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 7: Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu YP Kotwal today awarded one year imprisonment and fine Rs 10,000/- to Chander Mohan Zutshi of Sainik Colony, Jammu who was facing trial for outraging modesty of a woman. Third Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Y P Kotwal after hearing both sides observed that teacher is always respected and looked upon with reverence and for guidance who is supposed to protect and show the child/children the way of life but present is the case where the pious relationship of 'Guru' and 'Shishya'. With these observations Court ordered that convict is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and a fine of Rs. 10,000/- under section 354 RPC. Court further said that in default, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment for three months and accused is further sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months under section 342 RPC. "The sentences imposed upon the convict shall run concurrently the court added. According to prosecution case is that the victim was taking private tuition from the accused in his house at Sector C, Sainik Colony, Jammu along with other students. On 29.05.2012, accused had asked her that on 30/05/2012 she should come at 3:30 pm instead of 5:00 pm for special classes and when the victim went to the house of accused for tuition at 3:30 pm accused tried to commit rape on her. However victim managed to flee from the spot and narrated the matter to her mother accordingly the parents of the victim lodged a FIR against accused. (JNF) |
