JK Kissan Tehreek holds protest, seeks procurement centres | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 7: All JK Kissan Tehreek today staged huge protest demonstration and sought procurement centres as promised by Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to facilitate the farmers but could not open at Chann Arorian and Jakhbar. Addressing protesters, Jagdish Chander Sharma, member, JK Kissan Tehreek Kathua that is affiliated with All India Kissan Sabha where he strongly condemned state government for not providing sufficient procurement centre where farmers can sale their crops. He informed that one farmer died due to storage of his crops in Godown. He said traders purchase their crops at low rate that affect their livelihood. He said Deputy CM ensured to allot 5 procurement centres but sanctioned just 3 which are insufficient and farmers wait for long to sale their crops. He sought procurement centres in Chann Arorian and Jhakhbar so that farmers can easily sale their crops. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi made false promises during election campaign to facilitate farmers and fixed crops rate but nothing has been done till date that urges farmers to commit suicide. He said that farmers got loans and fails to return to consecutive damage of crops in incessant rains/ hailstorms. He said farmers can't bear high rate of fertilizers so government must come ahead to facilitate farmers in entire J&K state including district Kathua. The protesters warned for aggressive protest if government fails to install more procurement centres. They also demanded appropriate rate for crops besides compensation for dead farmer at Matian village. |
