Udhampur, Nov 7: A special drive against the erring two wheeler riders for violation of traffic rules was launched jointly by Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police Udhampur on the direction of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary here today. According to official spokesperson, the drive was held intensively at five different locations viz Mianbagh, Venus Chowk, Salalthia Chowk, TCP Chowk and MH Chowk. "The police have tightened its noose around those drivers who don't wear helmets and are involved in rash driving posing dangers to others driving on the roads, spokesperson said. "Furthermore, the triple riders and rash drivers are also being fined by the department, he said, adding, "on the spot about 35 two wheelers have been compounded and fifteen challans have done by ARTO and recovered a fine of Rs 5000 from them for violating various provisions of Motor Vehicle Act. " "During the drive 05 two wheelers were also sized for violating MVA, spokesperson said. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) , Rajesh Gupta also sensitized the people and stressed upon them to adhere the traffic rules. Among others, Dy SP Traffic Tilak Raj Rana of MVD and traffic police too were present during the drive. |
